The topics of the course are the fundamental principles of pharmaceutical technology and the basic pharmaceutical-technological procedures. The following aspects will be analyzed: oral solid dosage forms; drying processes; liquid and semisolid dosage forms; colloidal and coarse dispersions; interfacial phenomena, surface-active agents; sterilization; parenteral, dermatologic and ophthalmic preparations. The foundations of the main legislative provisions relating to the profession of pharmacist.

The course is organized in: A) theoretical lessons that are designed to provide students with the basic elements of knowledge of the most classic and pharmaceutical forms of the main methods used to produce them both industrial and laboratory pharmaceutics; B) theoretical lessons in which provides the basis for the knowledge of the main laws regarding the profession of chemist and illustrated the general organization of the national health service with particular regard to pharmaceutical services; C) laboratory practices concerning the practical preparation of pharmaceutical forms most commonly used

Frontal lessons (10 credits) and laboratory practices (2 CFU). Students must present a written report at the end of each practical exercise.

The final exam consists of a written examination which provides access to the oral test. Both tests are designed to assess the knowledge of the matter. The final grade is an average between the written and the oral and evaluation of laboratory practices.

Interfacial phenomena and superficial, surfactants. rheology; colloids hydrophobic, hydrophilic and of association. sterilization; parenteral preparations; eyedrops. Dermatological preparations. Suppositories.
Pharmaceutical Legislation Program: Classification rules of medicinal products for human use. A prescription for human use: classification of medicines, non-prescription medicines, prescriptions classiicazione medice. Discipline of drugs or psychotropic substances. The laboratory pharmaceutics. The Pharmacopoeia XII Ed .; Tables (F.U. XII Ed). Organic plant and review criteria. Classification of Chemists. Pharmaceutical locations. Ownership of Pharmacy. Professional technical direction of Pharmacy, AIFA, EMA.
