Spinal cord diseases can cause severe permanent neurological deficits. For some patients, such damage can be avoided or reduced if the diagnosis and treatment are premature. Spinal cord disorders are generally due, in addition to intrinsic pathologies, to extrinsic pathologies to the spinal cord itself, eg, compression lesions caused by rachis stenosis, discus hernia, tumors, abscesses or hematomas.
