Regulation of gene expression in eukaryotes. Structure and regulation of transcription factors: Chromatin remodelling (Swi/sfn complex, HMG proteins). Transient, semipermanent and permanent gene expression. Cell specification and differentiation. Gene silencing and microRNA. Molecular aspects of the principal biological processes: cell growth, differentiation, cell death and motility. Adesion molecules. Extracellular matrix remodelling. Cytoskeleton: structure and function. Cell communication: gap junctions Methodologies for the evaluation of cell growth, cell death and cell migration. Elements of Bioinformatics (BLAST, CUSTAL ect).
