Introduction to the use of Italian Pharmacopoeia XI Ed. Solubility and acid and/or basic properties of drugs. Separation of mixtures. Filtration. Extraction. Evaporation. Qualitative elemental analyses for assigning the composition of the drugs. Identification of functional groups. Characteristics and identification of the main therapeutic classes (organic and organometallic compounds) reported in Pharmacopoeia.

Moreover, the course shoots for making the student able to define a drug as for its basic/acid and hydrophilic/lipophilic properties with the aim to facilitate the approach to the study of the medicinal chemistry.
