Learning Objectives
Provide knowledge on the principles of general pharmacology to
illustrate and clarify the basic knowledge essential for the correct use of Drugs. Furthermore, the fundamental knowledge regarding the main interactions between drugs and food-drugs, important for drug safety management

Oral examination. Every year there are 5 exam sections plus 2 during the possible periods of ‘didactical silence' in November and April.

Pharmacokinetic: transfer of drugs across biological membranes; administration routs of drugs; distribution of drugs in body; metabolism of drugs; excretion of drugs. Pharmaco-dynamic: actions of drugs not mediated by receptors; actions of drugs on enzymatic systems; actions of drugs mediated by receptors; actions of drugs on carriers; actions of drugs on ion channels. Desensitization of receptors. Tolerance. Physical dependence. Withdrawal syndrome. Tachyphylaxis. Idiosyncratic and Allergic reactions. Drug-drug interactions and Drug-food interactions
